6 March 2019, European Parliament
17:00 – 18:30
As the mandate of the European Parliament and of the European Commission draws to a close, the event will bring together key health stakeholders involved in the promotion of healthy ageing, with the specific goal of discussing adherence to therapy.
Poor adherence, beyond its negative impact on patients’ quality of life through the increased risk of the risk of adverse events and hospitalisations, also has negative economic consequences. In fact, today it is one of the primary causes of inappropriate healthcare spending.
To ensure that future European leaders will address the challenge of adherence to therapy, the gathered participants will launch a European Manifesto aiming to establish a “European Adherence to Therapy Day”, in order to raise awareness on the negative impact of poor adherence and on the benefits that come from an increased the level of adherence to therapy.
This event will be hosted by MEP Aldo Patriciello (EPP) and MEP Patrizia Toia (S&D) with the support of the Italian Committee for Adherence to Therapy – C.I.A.T.
