Adherence to treatment by patients suffering of chronic pain reaches across Europe, with different values depending from the chronic diseases, approximately 50%. We know by now that the fundamental conditions for active and healthy aging include not only prevention and adoption of healthy lifestyles, but also adherence to therapy. We also know that non-adherence to treatment involves the risk of recurrence and adverse events, and that this, in addition to health risks, results in additional health care costs, which can be reduced.

SIHA, Senior International Health Association, in collaboration with the main european specialized medical-scientific authorities will organize, in the Palacongressi of Rimini from the 18 to the 19 of November 2016, the Ist European Congress on Adherence to Therapy. The Congress will have as President Giovanni La Via, ENVI Chair in European Parliament.

The Congress will be organized in thematic sessions for technical experts and in sessions open to the public at the presence of representatives of European Institutions. The Congress will lead to the development of scientific documents containing the identification of various medical and health critical areas, and of a European Charter on Adherence to Treatment, taking into account the primary need to promote adherence to treatment of chronic patients.

The event will gather delegates from age associations of different European countries and will involve physicians and experts.
